Jessica Schneider is a Staff Attorney in the Education Equity Project. Jessica directs the litigation of the project and coordinates a pro bono project representing students in expulsion hearings and other educational civil rights matters. She also represents students in school discipline and education equity cases with a focus on racial justice and disrupting the school to prison pipeline. Jessica engages in community lawyering as well as policy and reform work in educational equity. She is a member of the 2014 inaugural cohort of the Shriver Center Racial Justice Training Institute, which supports legal advocates in explicitly addressing racial inequity through the law, and a member of the second cohort of the Chicago Bar Association Leadership Institute. Jessica is a native Chicagoan and joined Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights in 2011 as a Civil Rights Fellow and has also previously worked in the Housing Opportunity Project. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis and her law degree cum laude from DePaul University with a Certificate in Public Interest. Jessica speaks Spanish and has previously done work with immigrants and low income communities. She is a member of the PILI Alumni Leadership Council and the inaugural DePaul Alumni Engagement Board.  Jessica is a proud 2014 recipient of the Chicago Bar Foundation Sun-Times Public Interest Law Fellowship.
