Barbara Barreno-Paschall, Senior Staff Attorney


Barbara Barreno-Paschall is a Senior Staff Attorney with the Housing Opportunity Project. In this role, Barbara manages the day-to-day operations of the Project and engages in litigation, policy advocacy, and outreach to address barriers to housing opportunity and further Chicago Lawyers’ Committee’s mission to secure racial equity and promote economic opportunity for all. Prior to joining Chicago Lawyers’ Committee, Barbara graduated from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy with a Master of Public Policy and has experience working in government, non-profit, and the private sector. From 2011 to 2015, Barbara was an Associate in the Employment and Labor Group at Sidley Austin LLP, where she also represented immigrants seeking asylum and twice received the Firm’s highest honor for pro bono service.

Barbara received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College and her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she served as Chair of the National Latina/o Law Student Association and Executive Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. In 2018, Barbara was honored as one of Chicago Scholars’ 35 Under 35 Young Leaders Making an Impact and was elected to serve as Community Representative on the Kenwood Academy High School Local School Council in the Hyde Park neighborhood.
