Fair Housing Seminar

Join the Housing Opportunity Project for a free event for housing providers, community members, and service providers. Housing Opportunity Project staff will provide instruction on the federal, state, county, and city fair housing laws that impact tenants, landlords, realtors, and property managers. 

If you need a foreign or sign language interpreter or special accommodations, please call the Chicago Commission on Human Relations at (312) 744-4111 or email the Commission at CCHR@cityofchicago.org at least 48 hours prior to the event.

Refreshments will be provided. 

Agenda:

5:00-5:30pm - Network with other housing providers, community members, and fair housing experts.

5:30-7:00pm - Learn about fair housing laws from experienced professionals in the fair housing and legal fields. Topics will include: 

  • Who is protected under federal, state, and local fair housing laws
  • Providing housing accommodations for people with disabilities

Latino Policy Forum, Claretian Associates, and the Housing Opportunity Project present a TECHO (Teaching and Education Create Housing Opportunities) train-the-trainer program. At this training for advocates and providers serving the Latino community, attendees will gain knowledge of how to increase housing opportunity for all. We will cover issues of fair housing, fair lending, leases, screening, homelessness, and public housing programs.
