On March 20, help us protect voting rights at the polls.
Volunteers for our nonpartisan Election Protection program protect voting rights by answering calls to our 866-OUR-VOTE hotline, and by monitoring polling places in Chicago and suburban counties.
You must be registered to vote in Illinois to serve as a field volunteer - it is not too late to register if you are eligible. Attorneys, law students, and legal and policy professionals are welcome. This is a popular pro bono project and will be an excellent networking opportunity!
Volunteers must complete a training in advance, either online or in person. Our in-person trainings with CLE credit will take place:
- March 13, 12pm - 2pm at Kirkland & Ellis, 300 North LaSalle St.(field)
- March 15, 3pm - 5pm at Kirkland & Ellis, 300 North LaSalle St. (field)
About Election Protection
Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights leads the local arm of Election Protection, a nonpartisan voting rights program that trains legal professionals to monitor the polls in the city and suburbs and to answer the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline to help voters who are experiencing challenges. Hundreds of attorneys have volunteered in past elections. In 2016, nearly a thousand calls were made to the Illinois hotline call center. Data and stories from voters’ experiences are featured at www.electionprotectionillinois.org and drive systemic voting rights reforms through legislation, litigation, and community education and activism.
