Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Workshop

TIFs provide public subsidies for redevelopment, infrastructure, and other community improvement projects.

This will be the first workshop in the Law Project's new Building Community Equity Workshop Series on land use and planning practices in Chicago, and how community members can get involved. In this workshop, we will discuss how TIFs work and how community organizations can influence allocation of funds, successes in democratizing TIFs in the 27th Ward, and TIF reform options.

-Tatia Gibbons and Tanya Anthofer from Cook County Clerk David Orr’s division of Real Estate and Tax Services.
-Cecile Carrol and Carolina Gaete, Co-Directors of Blocks Together in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Moderated by Allegra Cira Fischer, Staff Attorney at the Law Project of Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights.
