Thursday, November 2, 2006

Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP

Having difficulties managing your workforce? Confused by the myriad of seemingly conflicting laws and regulations? You are not alone. Employers today are faced with a variety of responsibilities, obligations and liabilities arising from federal, state and local sources. This program will be a general overview, designed for executive directors, board members, staff managers and any other agency staff who have employee related responsibilities or an interest in employment law.

The program's focus will be on the fundamentals of the employment relationship : how to properly hire, evaluate, discipline and, when necessary, fire employees. It will also cover the basics of personnel and harassment policies; wage and hour law; applicable federal law (ADA, FMLA and Title VII); and challenges in managing the sick or disabled employee. This program will enable managers and board members to issue-spot in the area of employment law, and identify those areas in which the not-for-profit agency may need assistance to minimize often overlooked workplace risks.

The program is being offered live in New York City and will be simulcast in Chicago and other cities.
